maybehunterpryor asked: What didn't you like about The Avengers? Just curious.

(I’ll try and not type too much because this can go on forever with me)

Looking back I can remember seeing X2 on opening night at the midnight showing in Hollywood and showing up to work the next day and telling a friend, “It was as good as The Empire Strikes Back” and anytime that kinda silly movie comes on cable I remember that quote.

I think it’s fun to go to a popcorn movie and have a good time. I’m all for popcorn but I think everyone is just excited to see shiny things blow up and catchphrases. The formula of having a bunch of heroes save the “world” is getting more boring as these get made. The cut-aways to a cute kid looking out his car window as a meteor comes flying at him is just so fucking boring at this point. And the greenscreening of everything just starts to make my eyes sleepy. And it pained me to see Iron Man, the strongest personality of the franchise fixing an engine for 30 minutes. Plus do all these films need to be almost 3 hours? Wouldn’t a lean 90 minute movie with 45 minutes of action satisfy all our needs and eliminate 2 hours of backstory on the guy with the suit?

I look forward to The Dark Knight on the other hand because I know it will be a story that derives from character and not just another band of robots (no blood) trying to whip the Chrysler building. And I know I’ll be watching a Christopher Nolan film that will be steeped in character and story derived from character conflict. Joss is fine and good but is a simple TV director with a big budget. I guarantee A2 will just be a nightmare with 6 more heroes and 3 more villains to service and will be available on Netflix streaming as fast as Iron Man2.

But the Hulk was awesome.
