Had the absolute pleasure of seeing Craig Zobel’s COMPLIANCE last night at an L.A. screening (opens August 17th). Fantastic film. I realized afterwards that I’ve been watching summer superhero crap for so many months now that I forgot how powerful and thought-provoking cinema can be. Compliance is stressful and sometimes oddly funny. I think I saw four walkouts which the film is becoming famous for. It doesn’t deserve that reputation. I’m not going to give anything away but it definitely stays with you. A film you talk about over fries after.
And shout out to my dear friend, Pat Healy for playing a perfect scumbag. Ann Dowd and the rest of the cast are terrific in their roles as well.
Afterwards we were given free McDonalds (the film makes you so hungry for fast food) and good beer while getting to ask Pat and Zobel a million questions about the film.
Anyways, just go see it!
